PITTSFIELD , Mass. — Cassidy Flynn and Evelyn Julieano led the Lenox softball team past Pittsfield for what the Millionaires believe to be the first win in the program's history, 5-1, on Monday.

Flynn threw seven innings in the circle for the complete game win and Lenox's sixth straight win this spring.

As for Pittsfield, its fielding struggles continued once again.

“Our fielding errors are really costing us these games in the long run,” Generals coach Brian MacDonald said.

Lenox (6-0) brought some offensive power early in the game against 1-4 Pittsfield, getting four hits from ninth-grader Julieano.

Julieano leads her team in average (.778) and is top three in batting average in the state of Massachusetts, according to the website Maxpreps.com.

“She is fearless and relentless when she plays as a freshman starting shortstop," Pires said.

“She got a challenge today facing a good Pittsfield squad. It is a great opportunity for her to play.”

Early into the game the Generals kept it close with the Millionaires, who led, 2-0, at the end of the fourth.

Lilly MacDonald's RBI groundout in the fourth inning gave Lenox a two-run cushion.

Despite the final score Pittsfield catcher Paxton Ebling showed great leadership for her squad, giving great communication resulting in two Lenox runners getting thrown out in key situations.

Lenox's energy carried them through the game, and back-to-back singles from Evelyn Julieano and Grace Julieano sparked a three-run fifth to open a 5-0 lead.

Mia DeJesus of Pittsfield threw seven full innings only allowing four earned runs.

With this loss Pittsfield (1-4) travels  Tuesday to face Longmeadow.

Lenox (6-0) Wednesday has a rematch against Lee (2-4).
