Hurricanes Beat Pittsfield, Qualify for State Tourney

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Jacinta Felix scored six goals on Monday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to a 21-9 win over Pittsfield.
 
Maryn Cappiello scored five times and set up a goal, and Emma Meczywork had two goals and seven assists. Rylin Larabee had a hat trick.
 
“Great team win today,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “It's nice to have our full squad again and get back to our energy. It was also great getting our younger players a lot of time and having a few score. Kudos to our captains for getting everyone involved and promoting a 'we over me' mentality. Today's win qualifies us for the state tournament, so we can check off one of our season goals.”
 
Kennedy Whitley and Cami Lovato split time in the Hurricanes’ goal, combining to make 11 saves.
 
Laniyah Gregory stopped 14 shots for Pittsfield, going over 100 saves for the season.
 
Ella Kroboth led the Generals’ offense with six goals. Lily Ferris scored twice in the loss.
 
Pittsfield (1-8) hosts Chicopee on Tuesday.
 
Hoosac Valley (8-1) goes to Pope Francis on Tuesday.
