Cappiello Leads Hurricanes Past Central

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Maryn Cappiello scored seven goals and passed out two assists Wednesday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team to an 18-15 win over Springfield Central.

 

Ashlyn Lesure scored five times and assisted on four goals, and Emma Meczywor finished with four goals and six assists.

 

“We are down players due to vacation, so having these [Lesure and Cappiello] step up was huge today,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “I’m proud of our younger kids for working hard and playing different positions. We definitely need to clean up some areas before getting into the second half of our season.”

 

Ayanna Rosa scored a game-high eight goals for Central.

 

Kennedy Whitley and Cami Lovato split time in Hoosac Valley’s goal, combining to make 12 saves.

 

Hoosac Valley (5-1) goes to Chicopee Comprehensive on Friday.
