Perry, Rhinemiller Earn Athlete of the Week Honors

The McCann Tech boys lacrosse team started the April break with a loss at home but ended it with back-to-back road wins in less than 24 hours to improve to 4-2 this spring.
Senior keeper Brody Rhinemiller has allowed about seven goals per game. In his last two games, he stopped 16 of 25 shots for a save percentage of .640.
Hornets coach Marshall Maxwell credited his keeper with anchoring a young defensive corps for McCann Tech.
"He's working still with a very young group back there," Maxwell said after the team's win at Mount Greylock on Friday. "We start a freshman and two sophomores at long poles, and we have another sophomore short stick middie.
"And we have another long pole who didn’t start playing until this year and a short-stick middie in his second year. So [Rhinemiller’s] doing a lot with a lot of young guys.”
McCann Tech is home on Monday against Granby before going to Cheshire on Wednesday for a showdown against county rival Hoosac Valley.
The Hurricanes were the last team to beat the Drury softball team, dropping the Blue Devils to 0-4 to start the season when they met on April 17.
Since then, Drury has won four straight, including three wins in four days last week.
Senior pitcher Olivia Perry has been in the circle for all four wins, lowering her earned run average to 5.10 in the process.
Perry has 65 strikeouts in 45 innings pitched this spring while also leading Drury's offense.
Perry is hitting .481 with a team-best 12 RBIs and a home run for a Drury team that has outscored its last four opponents by a combined 61-16.
Drury starts another busy week on Monday when it goes to Taconic for the first of four games in five days.
