Late Basket Sinks McCann Tech on Senior Night
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The Smith Vocational girls basketball team Tuesday scored with six seconds left to secure a 36-34 win over McCann Tech on the Hornets’ Senior Night.
Makayla Tatro led the Vikings with 25 points – 12 on 3-pointers.
“We came out a little bit flat on a back to back and were down 18-10 at half,” McCann Tech coach Justin Kratz said. “We played OK but just couldn't hit shots. Give the girls a lot of credit because they came back in the second half and played their hearts out- just fell a little short.
“We tied the game on Faith Brazeau 3 with about 13 seconds left but they came back and hit a big shot with 6 seconds left to seal the win. I was proud of the way the girls continued to fight and claw their way back into it.”
Madison Rougeau and Amaya Todd each scored nine to lead McCann Tech, which got six apiece from Brazeau and Aiden Champney.
“[Seniors] Amaya Todd and Brooke Reynolds really played hard and anchored us through the game,” Kratz said. “They will definitely be missed next year.
“Not the way they wanted Senior Night to go for sure, but they, and all the girls, should be proud they left it all on the court.”
McCann Tech (2-14) goes to Pathfinder on Friday.
