Hornets' Bats Break Loose in Double-Header Sweep

In the 8-2 decision, a makeup of a McCann Tech home game that was rained out earlier this spring, Rochelo was 3-for-4, and Gabby Driscoll was 4-for-5 in a 16-hit Hornet attack.
In the 17-14 slugfest, Rochelo was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and hit one of five doubles for the Hornets.
“Our McCann offense came alive today, and our players connected well with the ball,” McCann Tech coach Aubrey Thurston said. “We were able to string together a good amount of hits, which shows that what we have been working on in practice is starting to translate into the game. I couldn’t be more proud of the players for today’s effort and hard work.”
Avery Lane went 4-for-5 at the plate in the 17-14 decision.
She also pitched in both ends of the double-header.
Emma LeMire carried the bulk of the load in the circle. She threw 5 and a third innings, striking out nine while allowing one earned run in the 8-2 win. In the other game, LeMire went 1 and a third innings, giving up two earned runs. Alexis Lemanski struck out three and did not surrender an earned run in three innings of work.
McCann Tech (5-3) hosts Chicopee Comp on Thursday.
