GRANBY, Mass. – Brooke Harrington and Mia Thomas scored five goals apiece, and the Wahconah girls lacrosse team Friday overcame a slow start to earn a 13-9 win over Granby.

The Rams led, 4-2, after the first quarter, but Wahconah came back to take a 7-5 lead at half-time.

“Today we came out a little sluggish, and Granby's Kali White took full advantage and scored four goals in the first quarter,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. “We did some regrouping after that and outscored them 5-1 in the second quarter.

“Gianna Heilbroun did a great job of containing Kali, and that was a big difference. Mia Thomas did a great job on the draw and had some very nice goals today.”

Phalyn Renderer stopped four shots to earn the win in goal.

Wahconah (5-3) hosts McCann Tech on Sunday.
