WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Gavin Hall drove in a run with two out in the bottom of the seventh to give the West Springfield baseball team a 5-4 win over Pittsfield on Friday.

West Side rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead, but Connor Devine’s triple with two out in the fifth drove in Brendan Socie to tie it for the Generals.

Cevine went 2-for-3 for Pittsfield. Jack Reed also was 2-for-3 and doubled in a nine-hit attack.

“We pitched well but didn’t make the plays we needed to on defense to beat a good ball club,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said.

The Terriers scored two unearned runs, including the game-winner, off starter Simon Mele and reliever Matthew Burega, who combined to strike out 11.

Pittsfield (6-1) hosts Westfield on Tuesday.
