Greenfield Baseball Edges Mount Greylock
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Greenfield’s Arthur Fitzpatrick struck out eight in six innings to earn a 4-3 win over Mount Greylock on Tuesday.
Green Wave reliever Malik Moore got a fly ball out with the tying run on second in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the victory.
The Mounties did score one run in the seventh on an RBI double by Cole Wetherell but could not bring Wetherell home.
Jameson Bayliss and Eli Kristensen also had RBIs for the Mounties.
“Unfortunately, we did not take advantage of a great outing by [Jameson] Bayliss,” Mount Greylock coach Rick Paris said. “He looked sharp today, but a few too many errors and mistakes cost us.
“And the fact that we left the bases loaded three times with two of them in innings where we didn’t score … Hats off to [Fitzpatrick] for making the pitches when needed.”
Bayliss was the pitcher of record for his team, throwing 6 and a third innings and allowing just two earned runs.
Kristensen retired two of three batters he faced in the top of the seventh.
Mount Greylock (4-5) hosts Southwick on Thursday.
