Hinkell Shines at Plate, on Mound as Drury Downs Monument

Hinknell walked three and allowed no earned runs in the complete-game win on the mound.
At the plate, he went 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI to spark a 10-hit attack for the Blue Devils.
Mason Fierro went 2-for-3, and Julian Feliciano drove in a pair of runs for Drury, which opened up a six-run lead with a four-run sixth inning.
Feliciano’s two-run single with two out gave the Blue Devils a 9-3 lead before Monument was able to get one back in the bottom of the inning.
The Spartans started the seventh with singles by Chris Paul and Dom Calautti, but Hinkell got the next three hitters on swinging third strikes to strand both runners and secure the win.
Calautti went 2-for-4 to lead Monument Mountain’s offense.
Jack Bissaillon took the loss, surrendering four earned runs in 5 and a third innings on the mound.
The Spartans (6-3), who honored longtime coach Tom Hankey on Sunday afternoon, host Amherst on Monday.
Drury (9-0) goes to Bennington, Vt., to face Mount Anthony Union on Tuesday.
