Lenox Holds Off McCann Tech Late

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Lenox reliever David Kirchner got a strikeout to leave the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh and secure an 8-7 win over McCann Tech at Joe Wolfe Field on Wednesday.
 
The Hornets rallied for six runs in the seventh after Lenox scored three times in the top of the frame to build an 8-1 lead.
 
Mason Daley earned the win on the mound for Lenox, striking out six and walking three while allowing no earned runs.
 
The Millionaires took advantage of four McCann Tech errors and made the most of three hits allowed by four different Hornet pitchers.
 
Evan Albert singled and scored in the Millionaires’ seventh-inning rally, which also saw Tyler Giardina deliver a sacrifice bunt.
 
Jack Hicks doubled in a run in the top of the first, and Seamus Cooney had the third Lenox hit and scored a run.
 
For the Hornets, Dylan Turner went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, and Carson Rylander doubled.
 
Rylander also threw one inning on the mound in relief of Hayden Barrett. Kolton Buck and Jack Dolan also went to the bump for the Hornets. Together, the McCann Tech pitchers struck out five and gave up just two earned runs.
 
McCann Tech (5-4) is at Mahar on Friday.
 
Lenox (7-4) is at Athol on Friday.
