St. Joseph Boys Score Late to Win Opener

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Thien Nguyen scored with fewer than two minutes left to give the St. Joseph boys soccer team a 2-1 win over Pioneer Valley on Wednesday.

 

Mike Peplowski set up Nguyen for the game-winner as the Crusaders opened the season with a victory.

 

Peplowski scored with help from Nico Terpak midway through the first half to give St. Joe a 1-0 lead, but Pioneer Valley struck back three minutes later with the equalizer.

 

Joey Maynard stopped four shots for St. Joseph, which had a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal.

 

The Crusaders travel to Mount Everett on Tuesday.
