David F. Wojtaszek, 79

ADAMS, Mass. —  

Mr. David F. Wojtaszek, 79, of Adams, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on November 23, 1945, son of the late Thaddeus and Adele (Bieniek) Wojtaszek. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School.

Mr. Wojtaszek worked as a butcher for his family’s supermarket, the former Butch’s Market in Cheshire for many years. He had also worked as a wastewater treatment operator for General Electric and Kimberly Clark and had driven truck for various companies.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire.

Dave’s greatest joy was spending time with his family & friends, especially his grandchildren and his brother-in-law, Ed Behrens. He spent countless hours at gymnastics shows, Young Marines, BMX races, baseball games and horse shows. He shared his love of fishing and photography with them. Gifting photos of their events that were magazine cover worthy. During the past couple of months he was blessed with reconnecting with an old friend and making several new ones. He also made one hell of a salad!

His wife, the former Elizabethann “Beth” Cahill, whom he married on May 6, 1967, died on March 15, 2024.

He is survived by his three daughters, Melissa Vreeland and her husband Brian of Windsor, Jennifer Blanquart and her husband Paul of Belchertown and Susan Kephart and her husband Jay of Frederick, MD; seven grandchildren, Olivia Griffin and her husband Cody, Victoria Vreeland, Joshua Blanquart and his wife Dominique, Hannah Blanquart, Hunter McGrory and Payton and Paige Kephart; two great grandchildren, Carolyn and Raegan and by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister Adele “Penny” Behrens.

The funeral will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

i will truly miss david he and beth were my neighbors for almost 25 years. They were the nicest people to live next door to. But they are together again and dancing in heaven.
